Please help: Problem using Sound Recorder.

Hello all,

I have a problem when trying to use Sound Recorder on my computer. Whenever I hit record, I get an error message that says: Another application is recording audio. Stop recording with this other application and then try to record with Sound Recorder again.

When I open the task manager there are no other programs running.

Can anyone tell me a way to forcibly free up the line in channel (like an end task sort of thing, if there is one for sound) so I can actually use the program?

Thanks,
Swan

Bump. I'd really like to get this working!

Any suggestions on other programs I could use to record besides the Windows standard Sound Recorder?

What kind of sound card do you have? Make sure you have the latest drivers installed, maybe try reinstalling them. What version of Windows is it? Verify that your audio device is listed properly as the default record & playback device within Control Panel.

You could try out a demo version of Sound Forge Studio and see if that works for you - Sonic Foundry.

HTH,
Brian

It's Win XP Home.

I'm not sure what sound card it is. It's not my own computer actually. But it's something onboard. I've already looked at the drivers and haven't found anything wrong.
