How can I configure Outlook XP so it shows only email-address and no fax-addresses when I click on "to:" in a new email ....
I want the outlook address book that pops up if you do this to show only smtp-addresses and no fax-addresses.

Any help?
I already tried google and the MS Knowledge Base. 🙁

Coolv,

I do not see what your problem is. Can you select an e-mail address or not? If you can then why worry about other addresses in your address book? You can delete addresses in your address book easily.

Open your address book using Control/Shift/B. Select the address you do not want and right click on it. In the pop open menu you should see where you can delete the highlighted address. Click on Delete. you will get a message if you really want it deleted? Just click on Yes or OK. It is now gone.

If you wish to keep your fax addresses then create a FAX folder in your Address book and move all your fax addresses into it.

1. You click "New Email"
2. Click on "To:"
3. You see a list of all email- and fax-addresses in you contacts folder

I want to see only a list of all email-addresses in my contacts folder since I NEVER use the fax function of my computer!
I DO NOT want to change my contacts in my contacts folder (and I have quite a lot in there ......................)!

have you considered tryin what johnlog suggested....that seems like sound advice.

It's only integrated if you install and enable it.
The Fax Service is not installed by Default.

You can remove it from the Add/Remove Programs.

At the very least you can disable the function.
Click Start\Programs\Accessories\Communications\Fax, and then click Fax Console.
In Fax Console, click Configure Fax on the Tools menu to start the Fax Configuration Wizard.

If it was WinFAX 10 you would be in trouble.

1. Don't want to uninstall it.
2. I don't think this would even solve the problem since this is a outlook problem and not winxp related.

CoolV,

The problems you are having with Outlooke Express is definitely NOT a built in problem as it works perfectly on all of my computers and I have never had the problems with you are reciting.

You are totally and completly wrong about that as myself and dozens of others I know who have XP & Outlook or Outlook Express installed and NONE of them are having the problems you are having.

If it makes you happy just blame it all on Billy Gates and stevey Balmer. Maybe that will make you feel better that it is not a problem you have caused.

Some of us have tried to help you but you seem to refuse to do anything to help yourself.

One last option.
Install XP over itself and select the repair option if you have one. If that does not work then your only recourse is to reformat and reinstall XP. This time make sure XP is running correctly BEFORE you make any customizations.

1. read posts before replying!
2. This is a "problem" or better yet a configuration problem that happens on ALL computers in Outlook!

WHEN YOU CLICK ON "TO:" IN A NEW EMAIL (AND ONLY THEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) OUTLOOK SHOWS YOU A LIST OF ALL CONTACTS WITH EMAIL-ADDRESSES AND FAX-NUMBERS! I WANT IT TO ONLY SHOW THE EMAIL-CONTACTS!!!! BUT I DON'T WANT TO DELETE THE FAXNUMBERS IN THE CONTACTS AND I DON'T WANT TO UNINSTALL ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeez, calm down.

I've downloaded a fix from somewhere - I think it was Sperry Software - for this issue for a client. It's a $20 download though.

Here.

Hope this helps. If it doesn't - don't yell, OK? I'm fragile and can't take the abuse...

This link points to a workaround for your problem. It appears that there is no easy way...reg key to do what you want...but if you place an Alph character in front of the fax number they will cease to show up when you sent "to"

For the resord that's what the Sperry Software fix does, with the added benefit of adding or removing the "FAX" prefix to the fax numbers from the Options menu of Outlook. Probably worth the $18 if it's bothering you that much.
