really braniac, you mean theres other unemployed ppl in this world?

Why didnt u tell me before i made my donation.

So is it ok to give money for the drivers he made? I only use them every single day.

Goodluck to him. Never used his drivers. However, that last post made him sound very whiny.

I haven't used his drivers, they seem excellent. However, I must agree with the OP, almost everyone will go through some type of unemployment during their career. It is definitely obvious this guy has some great skills so I can't see why he couldn't get a job. (Maybe not his dream job, but that's reality for most of us).

Sure it is a nice gesture to donate if you use his drivers, but I'd rather give my money to tsunami victims than to someone who is temporarily unemployed.

My suggestion would be that he stop tweaking drivers and start tweaking job applications.

That's pretty harsh

How the hell is that harsh?

If you have to choose between a hobby you enjoy and putting food on the table, one of those kind of takes a higher priority than the other. His drivers can go on the backburner for a bit.

What would you suggest as an alternative? We all donate the cash we earn at OUR jobs to prop him up while continues to driver mod? That would be irresponsible and completely sending the wrong message - people do have to take responsibility for their lives and stand on their own two feet. Jesus, with the skills he has to have just to do proper driver modifications I doubt he'll have any trouble locating employment.

I don't think suggesting that he look for a job (which he likely already is) is a harsh prospect. It's the same suggestion I'd make to any other jobless person - you don't have a job huh? My proposed solution is that you get one.

Frankly, I think it's ridiculous that suggesting someone become employed is considered harsh in ANY situation. YOU subsidize his life if that's how you feel.

Cuba...my goodness.. how ridiculous. Its not some third world country. It is somewhat like Hawaii (without the volcanoes :) ) and I'm sure there are plenty of jobs there for the right skills. Also it may be possible for him to be a teacher so he can teach what he knows.

I use his drivers as well but I wont be donating as I'm unemployed myself at the moment. I wish him the best of luck.

Lol sorry I had the feeling for some reason to say that it was like Cuba. Myself being from a third-world country I know how hard it is to get a job, poverty and not enough money going around.

Its not that easy, I was born in Cambodia and I know firsthand how outrageously depressing and sad it can be.

But lets not turn this into a flame war. Lets just bump this thread for people to see and not flame. Im sorry for calling puerto rico , Cuba omega lol.

Look, some of you people are being real assholes.

I used his Omega drivers many times, he never asked me for any money.

I am sure that he put a lot of time and effort into something that benefitted many ATI fans.

The guy is in a hard situation, I am very appreciative for his work.

If anyone else feels the same as I do, I urge you to make a small donation.

If you do want to help that is fine, but quit trashing the thread.

The name of the thread is "Please Help Out Omega" in case you have forgotten.

Not "This guy doesn't have a job, let's trash him".

I think that he should be having a little easier time getting a job and everything considering his obvious skills. I reckon there has to be some sort of place over there that needs someone to write drivers. If not hell, the USA isn't too far away and I'm sure that being recognized by everyone in the hardware community he could land a job at ATi or nVidia!! Good luck Mr. Omega!

I don't won't get into the fray about his unemployment. I kind of gave up on the guy when he couldn't mod the drivers fast enough to stay 6 months behind nVidia on driver releases after buying my 6800GT. His latest Forcewares are the 61.77's, released 10/14/2004. I think it's very obvious why fewer and fewer people are supporting him. I switched over to the Xtreme-G 71.84 drivers the day they came out and haven't looked back. If he will release (soon) his own modified 71.84 driver set, I'll happily switch to them and scrape up some money to donate for his effort. I will make an effort to go through and click on the links though since I have used his drivers faithfully in the past and still use them on my wifes laptop.

that is your opinion . . . fine . . .

if you look at the "positive side" even a "negative post" is free advertising and a "bump" for what you consider a good cause. . .

. . . At least i made a suggestion that he should completely revamp his web site to make it more attractive and faster loading and get MORE ads to click thru as he appears to have plenty of free time. Not to mention take out the bitterness in his message . . . it'd be far more appealing.;)

this is a free forum where eveyone's opinion is welcome . . . whether you think they should post or not.

Looks like noone has yet suggested:

He should get a job at ATI!! You'd think ATI would love to have someone who's done such a good job of making sure the drivers are working properly and optimized!

:D

AT Job Networking Thread

I've been unemployed a long time.
Only able to pickup temporary, seasonal, or otherwise unwanted work.

Our economy sux.

(80% of my state couldn't have been wrong on the last election)

actually forget it, tried the drivers and they didn't install, even after I installed and reinstalled.
