ive tried everything apart from reinstalling windows which i dont really want to do and even so ive just installed windows due to building a brand new system.

everything is brand new with reciepts and not second hand.

my problem is that i have a gtx 470 and everytime im watching a film or on the internet the screen goes black then comes back with a message in system tray saying it stopped responding and has recovered.

but its not recovered because when i start a game some textures are missing and my character is greenish.

ive used driver sweep in safemode to remove drivers and ive tried a few drivers such as the 260.99 and a few older ones.

none of them are working as its still doing the display driver stopped responding.

any help would be much apreciated guys.

The card might be faulty.

Check the temps, and verify the fan is running.

Do you have a decent power supply?

Check the clockspeeds and make sure they're running at stock.

either a nvidia driver issue.... yeah those happend too, dispite what nvidia users say.
OR your 470 is toast! time for a new card.

Since its a brand new pc, its probably just a faulty card you got, and should have it RMAed.

It doesn't have to be instability of the card. You can get that error if your memory or CPU is unstable. Happens to me when I try memory/CPU overclocks.

True, but watching a movie or using a flash accellerated video player kicks in the GPU, plus corrupted video memory after the recovery, sound very like a bad card.

What happens in 3d games?

There can be lot of causes to that problem. First, make sure your PSU is delivering enough power for your setup. Then check the stability of video card test, followed by HDD/SDD, followed by memory test, followed by CPU test.

A corrupted driver may lead to this problem, but there are no report of a detective driver atm.

Bring it to a shop and have people check it out for you. It probably cause you 30 bucks if you bring it to the shop you brought the parts from, and they will replace problematic parts for you.
