Three week ago i through i have a not working Duron 600 and went out to buy a Duron 1.2Ghz. but imfact it was not the cpu's problem but the power supply. So now i have a Duron 1.2 Ghz in hand and why not use it??

Most of my time i use my PC to surf arounf the net and therefore does not require high CPU resources. But recently i came aross a site which is very interesting and want to download it, so i usewebzip to do. But the site was too large and contains about 18900 links... now... after a few min of downloading, it crashed!!

WEb zip was known to be unstable, but this is not normal crash. As my monitor turn off to standby mode, my lan card LED went off, and my CD rom and CDR had there front LED on even with no disk in it!!

What is going on??? I have try it agin with webzip again a few times after and the same thing happen EVERY time!!!

Then i am thinking could it be CPU overheat?? So i run 3DMark2001 ( WinXP ) , and after a few min, it did the same again............

Could it be CPU over heat?? i use Hmonitor to check, and sometimes it goes up to 50- 56 degrees, is this acceptable?? Or if it is not CPU overheating, what could it be??

Please help.............

50-56C sounds awfully high, but it all depends on what kind of mobo this is on. Also what HSF are you using?

This may be a stupid question..... but what has mobo got to do with temperture??

I am K7T Pro Version 1.

And i have a unknown HSF... i have taken out the cpu just a min ago.. and reput some ...... white stuff...( can't remember what is it called ).... which now the max temperture is around 42... but that is because i have now yet try to run web zip again..........

You thinking the temperture is too high??

Yea... temp is a little warm.

But if this web zip prog is the cause of all your problems then just don't use it.

Your temp is too high, IMHO. You might try another HSF with better cooling. I am using a Thermaltake 6 HSF on my T-Bird 1.33 GHz and my temp is running around 43 - 45. I also have a Duron 800 MHz at home and it usually runs 35.

Check the cooling in your system, and maybe replace the HSF you have with a better one.

I suspect that webzip is the root cause of the problems, but I'm not positive of that.

Hope this helps some.

B4 commenting on ur temp is high. Wht's ur ambient & case temp ? 50-56C is no indication tht ur temp is high w/o the case & ambient temp.
