I posted this before awhile back didnt get to many replys. ill try to give more information. the screen flickers. by flicker i mean. if u had a box of ceral and just shook it up and down , of course this is on a much smaller scale. im not sure if that helps explain it more. its a Gateway ev700. had it about 3 years. running it at 960x720(odd setting i think) with 75hz refresh rate. i have a v3 3k agp if that matters any. I leave my computer on 24/7 . but i turn the monitor off, im not sure if this could do anything or not. The monitor used to only do this 'flickering' thing once in awhile. now its almost constant. any help will be appreciated. i dont want to buy a new monitor next =/

*edit* i guess many flicker might be the word. maybe shake works better? i duno.

Always turn off your mon before you go to bed. The power saving uitlity works as well. But the previous post seems correct. Your mon is dying... Same here but I am getting a 20" Trinitron to i am happy!

Ya, it sounds like it's probably toast. Turning the monitor off and leaving the computer on did not cause the problem. It's just failing. You could try different frequencies and resolutions. Try 640X480@85Htz if it will do that. You do get some flickering at 60Htz, but it's not too noticable at 75Htz.

Hello,

Try changing the refresh rate of your video card too (I would try adapter default). Did you change any components in your computer before the monitor started flickering? Also, make sure that the cable is well connected to your computer and your monitor. If the monitor started flickering on its own with no change made I would agree that it may be time to get a new monitor.

Mark.

Yup. Give it to GoodWill (they have a recycle program). I've seen monitors last for years after flickering starts to set in. They generally start with small bursts of the shakes, or turn various odds shades of color, when they're cold, and it gradually gets worse. Your's is definitly in an advanced stage of a dehibilitating desease. Put it out of its misery. Get one of those 19" or 21" monitors you've been eyeing.
