Please Help, My computer doesn't turn on anymore

I turned my computer on this morning and saw a spark come out of it. Then it smelled like something was burning coming from the computer. Is my computer fried or is there something that I can easily replace?

Uh Oh, the majic sparks and smell came out. Open it up and see if you can locate the smell or see scorch marks from the majic sparks.

check the mobo for black burn marks

actually smell the back of the CPU...it may smell....irony, haha thats the best way i can explain it.

hopefully its just your mobo!

Last year, that spark and smell for me was the fuse in the PSU. It was an Enermax, so it was a simple process of plugging in a new one (not unlike replacing a car fuse)

However, you won't find a new fuse at Radio Shack or your average hardware store. Personally, I found a replacement fuse at Vetco in Bellevue. It was $1.25, I think.

If you have a cheap PSU, you'll likely need to be proficient with a soldering iron...

I'd vote for the PSU too.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple months ago. I was sure it was the PSU. It ended up being my video card.
