I'd just like some honest opinions. I have all the possible software that I need, so being a Macintosh has no significant problem for me. So please no biases. Just rational thinking, of which I lack.
Here's the situation. I have an IBM T23 with all the trimmings:
P3 1.13GHZ
384MB RAM
48GB 5400RPM HD
802.11b integrated
8x8x4x24x8 CDR/W/DVD combo drive
3 years warranty
1.3" thick
5.3-5.4lbs heavy
I paid approximately $2600 for the notebook
Here's what I'm trading for:
Apple Powerbook G4 550MHZ
384MB RAM
30GB 4200RPM HD
802.11b Airport Card
No warranty
1" thick
5.3lb
1 year warranty
$500 cash
Here's the catch. The trackpad is broken. It will cost approximately $310 because it was an accidental damage. SO $310 will go towards repairs, while the $190 goes towards a combo drive.
A 550MHZ DVD/CDRW G4 with 802.11b will go for about $2400 optioned out. It will also have better resale value in the long run. IBM has a trade in program, that doesn't offer much, but some is better than none.
Please, your opinion matters deeply!
