I am away from my apartment in Chicago (home for xmas) and was relying on my mail server that I have running on the DSL connectio at my home. It seems that Ameritech DSL is down in the Chicago area, but I am afraid that my modem/router may not reconnect when it comes back on. I did a tracert from home and got this:

C:\>tracert 66.73.250.198
Tracing route to adsl-66-73-250-198.dsl.chcgil.ameritech.net [66.73.250.198] over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 <10 ms <10 ms <10 ms UPSTAIRS [192.168.0.1]
2 240 ms 190 ms 201 ms m17.goes.com [63.65.255.17]
3 180 ms 211 ms 190 ms m1.goes.com [63.65.255.1]
4 161 ms 200 ms 210 ms 500.Serial2-6.GW4.EWR1.ALTER.NET [157.130.249.1]
5 200 ms 190 ms 211 ms 117.ATM4-0.XR2.EWR1.ALTER.NET [152.63.25.190]
6 170 ms 211 ms 190 ms 292.at-2-1-0.XR2.NYC8.ALTER.NET [152.63.17.21
7 180 ms 200 ms 220 ms 0.so-2-2-0.XL2.NYC8.ALTER.NET [152.63.19.33]
8 200 ms 200 ms 201 ms 0.so-1-0-0.TL2.NYC8.ALTER.NET [152.63.0.169]
9 211 ms 210 ms 230 ms 0.so-6-0-0.TL2.CHI2.ALTER.NET [152.63.13.22]
10 220 ms 220 ms 231 ms 0.so-1-0-0.XL2.CHI2.ALTER.NET [152.63.67.122]
11 230 ms 201 ms 200 ms POS7-0.GW5.CHI2.ALTER.NET [152.63.66.117]
12 231 ms 240 ms 210 ms POS9-0-0.AR2.CHI7.ALTERLNET [63.111.126.222]

The rest timed out. I assume that the gist of this is that Ameritechs routers or whatever are still messed up. If it was a problem with my router/modem would it be correct ot assume that tracert would show an ameritech router or two in the list?

Thanks

Try these Ameritech mail servers :

mailhost.cle.ameritech.net - Cleveland (just edit "cle" ," col "or "day" in in your config)
mailhost.col.ameritech.net - Cloumbus
mailhost.day.ameritech.net - Dayton

I HAD Ameritech DSL , Ameritech always has one server down , So I always checked these three (one always worked )
