Wasent sure where to post this but. I bought a Canon A10 digital camera today adn the first one i got i though somehting was wrong with it so i took it back. The second one i am having the same problem with.

I can take like 10 pictures then i get a low battery warning. It didnt come with a charger or anything, the batters dont have to be charged i dont think. THey seem to be just plain AA batteries.
What am i doign wrong?

Josh

EDIT---OK I went to Walmart and got 1600MaH Energizer rechargable batteries adn a charger (Cost me $40 more), Well I can now take 20 pictures WOW!!!! That is crappy. Is my camera bad? Should i get a different one? I want a camera that will take around 100 pictures what is one around $249.99 if you think I need a new camera

Josh---EDIT

EDIT #2 --- Ok now i cna take around 108 pictures with it :)

sounds right to me... you need to get nimh batteries.

okay well, 10 is a little low, but i don't think the camera is defective. regular alkalines get chewed up by digital cameras...

actually, as we speak, i'm conducting a test on different brands of nimh batteries :)

the toughest part is finding something that will drain the batteries fairly quickly... my digital camera is taking forever, even with flash on...

anybody have any ideas on draining 4 AA nimh batts quickly?

Don't digital camera eat regular batteries? You may want to try the rechargeable NiMH batteries.

Yeah, they do eat those AA's - if you use the cam's LCD screen, like on mine... Better look into those rechargeable NiMH batteries.

wayy longer, not sure for how much, last me about a day taking 100 pictures with the LCD screen on when I take the pictures.
But however you look at it buy rechargables for your digital camera, it is worth it.

i'm testing the sanyo industrial ones... the green ones, and i got tired of taking pictures. plus they can be recharged thousands of times... you'll definitely save a lot of money, trust me!

some good places online to get batts are thomas-distributing.com and ripvan100.com. brands to look for are sanyo, maha... i've yet to test gp but those are supposed to be good too.

yea... but make sure they're nimh and not nicd. also look to see the capacity rating, you want something 1600 mAh +. alot of times they'll try to give you some 1200 ones or something.

well they're not *bad*, just not as good. the higher the number is, the longer it lasts, basically. but you can't compare different battery types, like alkaline to nimh, you have to compare the same types.

is it consistent with 20 pictures or have you only tried it once? sometimes you have to break them in a little...

I tried it once witht the rechargeable ones. It is a quick charger 1 hour. And after they went dead the first time, I put them in the charger and they charged in 10 mins except for one whitch is still charging 15 mins later. IDK

except for the one that is still charging?

i dunno, cycle through the batteries a few times more, but if it's still at 20 after that, it might be your camera. i dunno about the canon a10 in particular, but most cameras i know can take more than 20 with nimh batts.

good luck.

My S100 with the little battery pack will take a good 60 pictures on medium quality and have enough juice left to upload them via the USB connection. Never taken more pictures than that at once, so I'm not sure how long it'll actually last. The low battery light will come on after about 50 pictures.

I would suggest one of those and an extra battery pack, but them damn battery packs are expensive!
