I am looking for an internal DVD writer for my desktop. These are the features I am looking for:

[*]Dual +/- R/RW format
[*]8x burner
[*]Price below $120 (preferably below $90)

There are a lot of burners out there with the above specifications (Sony, NEC, TDK, I/O Magic, Memorex, Plextor, Liteon, Pacific Digital and many other). So, I am looking for your experiences/opinions.

If it makes any difference or not, but I already have the following software:

[*]Pinnacle Instanct CD/DVD
[*]Pinnacle Studio Version 8.0
[*]DVD Shrink (freeware, ofcourse)

Is there any difference in the various brands of DVD writers? If so, which is a good writer based on the features I am looking for?

Thanks in advance.

NEC ND-2500A DVD @ newegg

The only thing was wondering about was, is there a 8x burner out there that has burnproof also. I dont believe the this NEC one has burnproof; nevertheless it has gotten great reviews. Check it out at www.dvdrhelp.com

If anyone knows of a 8x dvd burner with burnproof that doesnt cost an arm and a leg, let me know :D

All of the Lite-On drives at Newegg have Smart Burn, which is pretty much the samething as burnproof. They start in the $90's and go up to about $130 depending on speed and format.

I got a MagicSpin 8x (rebadged BTC 1008) that is dual format, and I really like it so far.
