So my friend bought a 3000+ venice from ewiz along with a DFI NF4 lanparty mobo. Now I was told that this is the best mobo for overclocking. He is following zebos guide. His computer would not boot at 285fsb and restarted at 280fsb. That seems kind of low considering i was told that mobo could hit 300 easily. Now he has just gotten BSOD at 255mhz that would only be an overclock to 2295.

Here are his components:
x800xl
Crucial value (2X512mb)
Enermax Noisetaker 485

Can someone please help?

Edit: He is using an XP-90

he hasn't restarted in like 10 mins so i'm assuming he's retrying the fsb with the lower htt multi :) i will ask as soon as he gets back on

Ok my mistake last stable was still 285 but the guide says to use 95% of that (270) he reduced the htt multi to 3x. Any other ideas?

I thought voltage has nothing to do with fsb... i thought fsb was property of mobo instead of proc?

zebos guide says to change ram to 100, cpu multi to 6 or 7 and that's all it says... should he be changing voltage? It's at 1.51 at the moment (what do you think the max should be to be safe)

Edit: ok sorry he just told me he put it back down to 1.3 after the prime95 test failed Will voltage help with fsb?

Increase the Vcore voltage can help reach a higher frequency.
Basically increasing voltages make stuff more stable when OCing.
But don't increase too much. Try to go by the smallest increment.

I've used a Winchester 3000+. I overclocked it to 2550MHz ( 2500MHz ) at 1.6X.
I think ur venice should be able to pass that.
Usually try lower ur ram speed, let it run at 166:200 = ram:fsb, that's what i did.

SPD may not be the right setting. Try setting up some dividers. What ram is he running (I know it's Crucial value)? PC3200/ddr400?
