depends on where you buy it...2 ltr bottles in a supermarket are .99-1.29

i hardly ever see one liter bottles.

if you goto a bodega, a 20 oz bottle will run you a $1

$1.29 most places around here. That's the BIG SLAM and other ~ 1litre sizes. 2 litres are $1.19 on average here with Pepsi or Coke rotating as the $0.99 special.

I just saw it for $1.29 in the gas station this morning. $1.19 for a 24oz, $1.29 for 1 liter and 2 liter. 2L bottle would be cheaper in the grocery store.

1 liter bottles are usually sold in convenience stores which tend to have a high markup. 2 liters are much more common, but are not usually sold in convenience stores. You can get a 2 liter bottle for $0.99 to $1.49 in a grocery store.

i think US is the only country where 2 litre bottles are common...elsewhere its either 1 litre or 1.5 litres

thx alot for all your help...appreciate it really really much, think i'll just go fake a number in my project
i'm just gonna assume a 1 litre bottle costs 90 cents in the US

Why don't you use the price of a can of Coke? Theyt are sold all over the world and are almost identical in size everywhere.

1 litre bottles have only been marketed by pepsi, and even then, only in 6 packs. Some mom and pop shops (that wouldn't otherwise carry 2 litre bottles) buy them and sell them individually for 1.75-2.00. I do not know their price in six-packs, but I could make a quick call to my grocery store for you if it would help.

20oz bottles can be had COLD at a convienience store for $1.25-1.29 usually.

2 litre bottles can be had at room temperature for as little as $0.70 on sale at grocery stores, but are usually around a dollar. At a conveinience store, 2 litre bottles are sold at room temp for closer to 1.80-2.00

I do not believe I have ever seen 2 litre bottles sold cold.

kinda tried that

its much easier to find the cost of a bottle of coke than a can of coke

also there are many more variable factors to take into account when comparing the prices of cans of coke

What everyone else said. 1 liter bottles for the most part don't exist here. 1 liter is just too much for most people to drink in a sitting and too little to share in a group.

If you do find it, the price will be sky high: ~$1.50 to $2.00 for a special item. ~1/3rd liter cans (the typical 12 oz size) can go for as low as $0.15 ($0.20 to $0.25 is typical) and 2 liter bottles can go as low as $0.70 ($0.99 typical around where I live). Thus, no one would want 1 liter.

thanx acemcmac for the offer but i think i'll just assume a 1 litre bottle of coke costs around 90-93 cents since a 2 litre bottle costs around a dollar

i've already got the prices of 1 litre bottles of coke in another 16 countries around the world, left the US for last cos i assumed it would be the easiest of them all, only to find that 1 litre bottles aren't sold.

so what else can i do but make up a reasonable price

Actually, 1 liter bottles are pretty common around here (Seattle) in convenience stores for those with a larger thirst than a 20 ounce bottle. 1 liter bottles usually run about $1.50

Hawrer, your question is a a bit too vague. Food prices can vary heavily from where you buy them. Go to a little store in a gas station and you'll pay through the nose. Go buy them in a six pack at the grocery store and it'll be way cheaper. Generally, the only place to find 2 liter bottles is at the grocery store where it's cheap.

Rather than simply "create" data, you may want to put a little * by it and indicate you're using the price of a 2L instead. Once you start dragging numbers out of nowhere, you can get in a decent about of trouble, since your data becomes basically worthless.

20 oz and 1 liter in NYC is usually closer to $2, sometimes more (seen them for $2.69!, cheapest are around $1.59). 2 liters are actually cheaper than 1 liters, usually $0.99.

Why did you bother asking us if you are just going to make up a "reasonable" price? There have been a dozen posts explaining that 1 liter prices aren't "reasonable". I'm guessing because this price doesn't fit your predetermined conclusion for the paper that you feel the need to manufacture data? I hope you fail the paper.
