they dont have any markings on the case?

are they managed via console or web (or at all)? a system / switch info page should tell you what you need.

Bay Networks, acquired by Nortel. Previously, these might have been WellFleets, and renamed to Bay Networks -- can't recall exactly, but I do recall working with some old Bay Networks v.35 routers back in the day (circa '97ish?). Ran like tanks. =D

These aren't routers, however -- managed switches at best.

$10.50 for a piece of networking history

hell, if you are that gullible, I got lots of old junk laying around. Want a Cisco NetRanger? I threw some of those away not to long ago...

I have a 486 and the last time I used it, it was working solidly. I took it apart to replace a dead HSF, bought two HSFs and never got around to putting it back together.

Interested?

What he said. These were probably very expensive pieces of equipment in the 90s. I used to have a 16 port one... it worked great but was just too big for my needs at the time.

Good luck!

It says right on the ebay ad that what you bid on are not Routers .. They are 24 Port Switches
Some switches can be configured, others are just plug and play ... Also the seller had a note
to contact them if you need more information .. He probably can provide the user manual to you.
That brand seems to have been made by Nortel

They were around 2500 bucks if they are switches. It was one of the first 10/100 switches that was somewhat affordable. Before these a 12 port switch would run you 10,000 or more.

Do you recall some of those 100BaseT-only switches that got real popular back around.. '97ish?

What a serious PITA. I still recall HP putting out some SERIOUS junkers that barely interoperated with anything. It was like having a little gremlin in a 2U box playing with duplexing switches -- constantly.
