Went to the Creative site hoping to see a nice "latest driver" file in the download section. Instead, I see multiple updates but no base driver file. does this mean Creative wants me to download my "old" driver off the CD that came with the 2 Zs card, and then "update" to the latest "patch"? Also, there is aan update for "digital rights management". Do I need DRM or is this more bloatware?

If you have the base driver then install it off the CD or else go to the link you posted and look for "Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS Driver Update" and download n install that file. It should have the base driver as well. If you look at the details it says:

"Requirements:

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS series audio card (with or without previous drivers and updates installed)".

Hence I think that file should work. I'd still use the CD first if you have it and then go for these updates.

DRM seems to be bloatware.. I wouldn't worry about that.

I noticed that too when I first got my ZS.
But, I tried the update file, without having installed anything else before, and it worked.
