Hello y'all,

I just recently bought an AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.33 Ghz, MSI K7T-Turbo motherboard, 256 MB PC133 Mhz, Thermaltake super orb Cooler.

When I am just in idle mode in windows, fuzzy logic tells me my temperature is 69C, is this normal???
I have been reading alot of messages posted from people telling that they have the same hardware like mine and they are running at temperatures of 45-48C.
How is this possible?? This system is brand new and has the latest bios v 2.7
Is there anyone else here who is having the same problems as me??
Fuzzy logic's top temperature is 80C before it will alert and already I am at 69C idle.

What can I do to solve this problem? I know thermaltake is not as good but 69C is a little hot isnt it?
When I look in the Bios there is always also a shutdown temperature > most of the times this gets even to 85C

When I were to buy a swiftech cooler how many degrees drop might I look at???
What other sorts of system coolers (not processor coolers) can I buy and where can I buy them?

Lot of questions but I really need some good advice!

Thx in advance!!!!

First of all, try using Motherboard Monitor instead of Fuzzy Logic. Second, Thermaltake orbs aren't that much good in terms of real world cooling performance, I recommend the Taisol w/ copper insert bottom. Lastly, check if you've properly set-up your heatsink(the base of the heatsink should be in good contact witht he processor core top and the clip should be well erm, clipped.)

The Thermaltake heatsink can only be clipped on one way, When you hear the click it is properly placed so this can't be the problem! Checked it so..

Greets!

Like I said, Thermal take orbs aren't the best in terms of cooling performance. You might also wanna check out Anand's heatsink round-up. Just do a search on the main page.

Make sure you are putting the Thermal compund on lightly. I have used the Super Orb and it should keep your idle temps below 50c and your max temp below 55c. If you put too much thermal compound on the heatsink it will cause the higher temps.

I had a thermoenigine cooling my 1.33 t-bird and temps were high all the time. H/f was seated correctly and light amount the thermal paste. Finally switched to a taisol copperbottom and temps are now 105 deg f full load when before they were 125 degf. Try a better h/f to cool that t-bird
