Hey there pleaze look at my sig and tell me if I need other things to make my system work with an Athlon cpu.

I want to upgrade my Cpu and mobo, but can I use the other stuff, and how about my case?...It's an AOpen 300w Hightower thingy. Do I need another case or what???

What I'm asking is whether I can keep all my hardware except for the mobo and cpu which right now is intel or I have to buy other things i.e ram...

I'm thinking about moving to AMD but don't wanna spend money on a hole new system. My AOpen with 300W is that also enough???

You don't need to upgrade your cpu, just oc it. You might want to buy a 815 mobo as you already have PC-133 ram.

If you really want to spend some money and not just waist it, wait a couple of weeks and get a GF2 Ultra or V5 6k. Because you really don't need to uppgrade you cpu.

I agree, overclock your CPU some. There is no reason to switch to AMD with something like that. Sure, even overclocked its not going to be as fast as a tbird 1GHz, but it will be more than fast enough for ANYTHING you could want to do. Really, just save the money for when an upgrade is actually worth doing, where there is a real benefit.

If you had a Celeron500 or below or K6-2 anything. P2 anything... then I would say upgrade. But you have a P3 and basically any P3 is good enough for everything you could throw at it. Maybe the really old Katmai core P3's could use an updgrade if you really load your system up.
