I am choosing music for a family member's memorial service. So far I have found two songs that really seem right, "Bright Eyes," written by Stephen Gately, sung by Art Garfunkel, and "Sand and Water," written and sung by Beth Nielsen Chapman. I would greatly appreciate suggestions for other songs that would be appropriate for a memorial service (preferably secular songs, since most members of the family are non-religious, and a funeral is not the best place for "witnessing.")
Here is a (legal) sound clip of Sand and Water.
SAND AND WATER
by Beth Nielsen Chapman
All alone I didn't like the feeling
All alone I sat and cried
All alone I had to find some meaning
In the center of the pain I felt inside
All alone I came into this world
All alone I will someday die
Solid stone is just sand and water, baby
Sand and water, and a million years gone by
I will see you in the light of a thousand suns
I will hear you in the sound of the waves
I will know you when I come, as we all will come
Through the doors beyond the grave
All alone I heal this heart of sorrow
I can only live this day
Flesh and bone my life's bursting toward tomorrow
And the love you send my heart still finds its way
All alone I came into this world
All alone I will someday die
Solid stone is just sand and water, baby
Sand and water and a million years gone by

BRIGHT EYES
by Stephen Gately
Is it a kind of a dream
Floating out on the tide
Following the river of death downstream
Oh, is it a dream?
There's a fog along the horizon
A strange glow in the sky
And nobody seems to know where it goes
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?
Bright eyes, burning like fire
Bright eyes, how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly,
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes
Is it a kind of a shadow
Reaching into the night
Wandering over the hills unseen
Oh, is it a dream?
There's a high wind in the trees
A cold sound in the air
And nobody ever knows where you go
And where do you start?
Oh, into the dark
