Hello anandtech forums!

Please help me choose a video card. I'd be playing Call of Duty 4 and possibly Modern Warfare 2, if they sort out the dedicated server mess.

I can choose between these 2 cards(sorry for the spanish links, but this is the only hardware store in my area that has decent cards/prices) --

XFX RADEON HD4890 PCIE16X DX10 1GB

or

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON HD4890 VAPOR-X PCIE16X DX10 1GB

The XFX one is a little cheaper, but other than that I don't see any real difference. Please help me pick the better card in terms of performance, I don't care if it's the more expensive one. Also, if you could explain any differences I'd highly appreciate it.

Thanks everyone

The performance of the two cards is the same. They're both clocked exactly alike.

The difference is that the Vapor-X cooler on the Sapphire is usually superior over the default cooler on the XFX card. It can keep the card cooler, and runs quieter. This also gives you a bit more temperature headroom in overclocking, if you're in to that kind of thing.

Unless you can't afford the extra $7, my thoughts would be to go with the Sapphire card.

pretty much the same......you could compare the 4890 to a newer 5770. The 4890 def has more reviews out. Driver updates for the 5770 could turn out to make this an attractive card.

I wouldn't really worry about the diff between the 2 you chose. basically the same card.
