It is down to two boards. The Soltek or the Epox 266a board for my Athlon 1700+.
I have never heard of Soltek, but the reviews have been generally good.
I never really heard of Epox before, but they seem well known.
I am worried about the report of many DOA boards and many issues with the Epox.
I am worried because Soltek is a bit of an unknown.

I can get the Soltek at www.ncix.com for $118.
I can get the Epox for around $105 at many places.

I plan to do some OC'ing by unlocking the CPU and not so much on the FSB, but maybe some.
I do have an Antec 412X PSU. So that shouldn't be an issue.

I really need something this week.

One last note. Believe it or not I don't have a reset button on my case.

Thanks,
Mark

Go with 8KHA+. It's better

Is that from expierence or what? I'm also looking at the Soltek SL-75DRV2, mostly because of the review at THG, and I can't seem to find anyone who's tried this board yet. Anyone have first hand expierence with it? Or Soltek products?

Thanks for the help

I'm interested in finding out more about the Soltek board also. The review at THG made it seem like the best thing since sliced bread...but I haven't seen any other reviews for it. Anyone have any experiences with it?

I'm also interested in this Soltek board. I was going to get 8KHA+ but decided not to after reading about its possible problem with Enermax PSU, which I have now. What I am afraid of with Soltek is that Alpha 8045 may not fit. Looking at its picture at THG, this may be likely.

I also have Abit KR7a and Soyo Dragon+ in mind now.

I read the toms hardware review on the board and was totally confused as to why they picked it as the number one board????

While the 3D scores were marginaly better than other cards, the non-gaming oriented benchmarks show it upper middle of the pack.

For example on the linux kernel compile it was a full 30 seconds slower than the ASUS board!

Well a few FPS is not really going to affect my gaming enjoyment their's a ton of things I can do in 30 seconds (like watch a commercial).

I've seen that you can buy this board like crazy overseas, but I've only found one place in US to buy it. I wonder if this is because it's new, because it's a budget board, how much it costs the retailer...Trying one out seems the only way to find out how good this board is.

I wonder, if Soltek was more established in the US, would this board cost me $80 (ie. shuttle, biostar) or $120?
