Greetings gentlemen (and ladies!). My current PSU, a venerable 850W Zalman unit, seems to be getting a bit long in the tooth. It's been making some odd hissing sounds and it's also nearly 7 years old! With this in mind I've been researching a replacement unit. I'd like something in a similar wattage range.
My system specs are as follows:
-Core i7 4670K, overclocked at 4.4GHz with a Corsair H100i
-ASUS ROG Z87 Hero motherboard
-16GB (2x 8GB) G-Skill DDR3 1600
-3x 4TB HDD, 1x SSD, 2x BD Optical Drive
-Creative Sound Blaster Z
-Gigabyte GTX 780 overclocked at 1.1GHz
All of the above is crammed into a Corsair Obsidian 700D, so the PSU can be a longer unit without issue. I'd like to keep my options open, that's why I'm looking at a 750W to 850W unit. This should be enough to accommodate a second 780 or indeed a different SLI configuration in the future if I decide to go down that route. I expect the new unit to last at least five years, so I'm not looking for a cheap PSU. I'd also like a modular power supply if possible, although that isn't absolutely critical.
With that in mind I did some research and found the following:
Corsair RM 750/850W:

EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750/850W:

Did anyone have any specific recommendations, or indeed perhaps a different manufacturer in mind?
I was looking at the 850W EVGA. It's gotten fantastic reviews and has very solid specs and would handle SLI 780s without breaking a sweat. At the same time Corsair has some higher end units like the AX760 and AX860. Would there be merit in spending another ~$100 AUD over the EVGA unit for the same wattage range? I'm happy to pay for a quality unit but don't want to overspend unnecessarily.
Any advice greatly received. Thanks.
