I am trying to find the right DSL modem for a friend. He talked to the Phone CO. and thes are the specs they gave him for the modem:

PPP overe ATM
It needs to be routing not bridging
Must be able to configure VPI=0 and VCI=0
And it must be ALCATEL compatible

I know nothing about DSL modems so I hope someone can recommend a brand and where it might be purchased. If anyone knows of any really good deals on DSL modems right now that info wqould be nice also.

Thanks,

Ron

There is no choices of DSL Modems in the open market.

eAuction places are the main source other then the DSL providers.

VPI/VCI = (0) zero does not make sense.

Are you sure they meant that it should be "configurable" and not just zero?

Notmally it would be 8/35, ect... But zero!!!!

Who is his Telco and DSL ISP?

In any event, the Cayman 3220-H is highly configurable and it can also be setup to share 4 PC (it is also a router). These can be found on e8ay for around $200 (+/-).

Try looking for an Alcatel Speed touch pro on ebay.
