You're going to have to query a little bit more into the heat dissipation method. There are good and bad AIO (all in one) water cooling kits. I'm not familiar with any of them. I've been with my two machines the past 4-5yrs.

Here is the story/review on the PSU, at JonnyGuru. Looks like a nice PSU. I prefer less 12v ripple than 50mv but I'm a stickler when it comes to PSU performance - nice PSU.

Any other choices you were thinking of for the Case? Remember it'll last you a long long while.
Thanks for the link. I actually read that review before deciding on it. Ummmm, i like the Cooler Master HAF X, but it's a little pricey. I missed the black friday deal. It was $129 :(

I went through a couple of cases before sticking with my current two. My main rig case is an ABS Black Pearl The best thing I added for my storage drives in my main rig was this Lian Li HDD power switch panel. It's a little pricey but you can turn the drives off when you are not using them. Plus it isn't necassary to run fans to cool them so you save on buying the fans, using the electricity to run the fans AND the drives, and you save on noise pollution. But my point is that I ended up with 8 HDDs for backing stuff up with a RAID 1 config. Of course there are other solutions to storage like external drive bays, etc. The ABS was 114$ in late 2009

I want to build a NEW rig that's future proof. Giving the HP to my son...this beast will be all mine :)

The post that you quoted is where I suggested a procedure which would result in no components being reused beyond the R9 280X that you are also reusing in your build.

Here it is explicitly:

i5 4690K + GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK $337
G.Skill DDR3 1600 8GB $55
Existing R9 280X $0
Existing SSD $0
Existing HDD $0
LG Blu-Ray Burner $50
Seasonic S12II 620W $65
Corsair 400R $100 - the GR One is fine too if you like it better
Noctua U12S $62
Windows 8.1 $105
Subtotal: $774
Sell X58 board -$400
Total: $374

I think I'm gonna keep the board and build off it. I want something cutting edge...gonna buy an R9 390x or 395x2 when they come out
