Nope, never heard it as a female name. That wouldn't be enough by itself to rule it out, but I'm generally against naming kids the same name as recognizable geographic locations.

Well, at least it ain't "Treasure Darling". And yes, that's a name one of my father's friends named his daughter.

I vaguely remember a port starlet named Dayton. I could be mistaken, however..

Which port was that and can I dock there? ;)

Better find out how many other people have docked there first...

I'll bring a spare hoist :D

:p

Hey, any port in a storm, they say...

I've told my wife that one of the chief things to look out for is how a name can be contorted to make fun of a person. Dayton Blowjob, Dayton Putout, etc. Not good.

That only counts the top 1000 names in any year. Of course it isn't in the top 1000.
I am aware of that, that's why I said they have no data - perhaps better phrasing would have been that no data is available on that site. Also, considering the relatively small pool of commonly-used names, not being in the top 1000 tells you that it's going to be extremely rare - the frequency of the bottom of the list is well under one-hundredth of one percent.

I think the best names are ones that actually have meanings behind the names and are positive. Just don't name your kid Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz (although the actor by that name seems to be doing fine by it).

So but true... I MUST STOP HIM!!!!

It is not your kid, it is not your place to "stop" him. You have no rights here, other than suggesting that perhaps they rethink naming her after a porn starlet.

Bullshit... it's my brother. I have every right to tell him how often his daughter will get laughed at for having such a stupid name.

Well, I talked to him last night, and as I expected, it was all her idea and he just gave in. Now if you knew my brother, he is an utter pushover. He will do whatever you tell him to do. With that in mind, it's very telling that they had an argument over this... the fact he said ANYTHING is a shock.

So, I told him to challenge her with this: if she can find one woman in the world named Dayton that is not a lesbian porn star, he will no longer object. God I hope she doesn't find anyone.

I like the name Dayton for a boy or a girl.

I can't wait to give my kids nice normal names. I hate this stupid trend of naming your kids weird things.

Those two paragraphs don't seem to agree. Do you not see naming a girl by a boy's name "weird"?

But you like Dayton as a name?

Why is it that girls seem to like names that guys think are stupid?
I'm so glad we didn't have a boy, as we just could not come to agreement on a name.
