it was late at night and we are having a drink with my friends on my house and i just bought a new pc and i am drunk that day and i tried to setup it up and i accidentaly put password on my ssd and now i forgot what password i put in to it and it wont let me access it:'''(

the name of the ssd is Kingston SNV425-S2 128GB SSDNow V-Series SATA2 2.5"

is it possible to just reformat my ssd? is so how do i reformat it?

"If you had to put a password on your ssd, what would it be?"
Have them write down the answer.
When sober again, read password off paper.

Reminds me of someone that lost 500GB worth of music on an external HD, because they knocked it over while they were drunk.

I think only a secure erase can clear an ATA password set on the drive. Which will cause you to lose all of your data, but the HD will be usable again.

Sucks, but yeah. :thumbsup: I don't know of any other way.

That reminds me of when I was a noob and messed around in the bios when I was hammered. It wouldn't boot in the morning, but luckly clearing the CMOS fixed everything. I was afraid I'd fried something.

i had someone drop a hammer on a desk next to a 2TB seagate doing a massive backup. killed it. just a slight thump no less. people don't realize how important vibrations (including bass) are at destroying hard drives. very real. proven.

Seriously what is the problem? its a new PC, there is no data to lose. Call the drive manufacturer, I am sure you could do some factory erase which destroys all data on the drive but renders it usable again. Then just install a fresh copy of windows.

if the password is in windows, you may be able to clear the password using a linux boot cd. just a thought

I've had many drunk computing experiences! Always a good story. Once we cut a power supply wire on my buddies new build...takes really long to trouble shoot drunk!

I always have a great time when 4-5 guys, a couple cases of brew, pizza/chicken/burgers, and whatever else is avaliable, get together to do a build.

the password is locked on the ssd and the ssd is not accessible on windows(i tried reformatting it on windows but it wont even read)
