I am having MAJOR problems with the new 680i chipset I just purchased the p5n-32-e from Asus...
Tons of random reboots, windows is completely unstable! REBOOTING each time I try to install or use an application TO one partition from another vise-versa...
If i'm simply installing things FROM C:\ drive unto C:\ drive and using C:\ drive, thus far it seems stable, but soon as I try to install from E:\ -> C:\ or C:\ -> E:\ I have REBOOTING... Now my windows is giving me a blue-screen reboot cycle error, and I need to re-format... I can no longer boot up.
My setup
P5N-32-E
OCZ gold 6400 DDR2 (2gigs) Dual channel @DDR 800 5/5/5/12
2 Seagate Barracuda 10 320GIG SATA on Sata slots 1/2 (NON-RAID)
2 Hitachi 500GIG SATA on sata-slots 3/4 (Raid 1)
1 LG dvd-writer on IDE1 MASTER
I have formatted the Seagate Barracudas using partition Magic... They are brand new drives... My primary partition is NTFS /w 4k clusters, some of the other logical partitions have 32k clusters.
** I have read that other 590 boards had major problems with the SATA controller especially if some of the drives used RAID and others didn't.
I need this resolved ASAP. I have a lot of work to get done, and simply can not afford the time or expense to mess with this, I have spent plenty of money as is.
- Is there a bios or firmware udpate I need? I havn't found any.
- Is it cluster/partition sensitive?
- Is it simply the nvidia sata controller issue, and do I need to purchase a secondary SATA/RAID PCI controller so that I don't have 4 SATA drives running off the mainboard SATA controller and thus causing this?
I need help ASAP, does anyone have ANY idea how to fix this, or has anyone had a similar issue?? Running SATA HDD's 2 SATA 2 RAID.... this will be greatly appreciated. thank you!
