Long story short ....I have a laptop ...installed Win XP Pro on it ...dropped my comp and it runs SUPER slow..... ran scan disk(filled up my HD) I tried to reinstall Win XP pro ..Not enough space (Im short by 100 megabites) ....I used a win 98 start up disk to get into dos to delete some files but the drive wasn't recognized (NTFS) so I got NTFSDOS.exe and was able to delete a few files off of my c: drive ....all of a sudden I am getting access denied on any folder or file that I try to delete...I am at a loss ...what can I do without formatting ...I only need like 80 megs to reinstall.......... I tried to fix but came up with dsome error message....I just need to delete come folders ...

Any suggestions

you probably knocked something loose when you dropped it. maybe the ram is loose?
that or the hard drive got pooed up.
Try an ASR or something like taht.

You ran scandisk?

Or chkdsk?

There is no scandisk in WinXP.

Go to recovery console and run chkdsk /r against the drive. Sounds like the filesystem got munged.

ntfsdos.exe won't allow write access to an NFTS drive. You need NTFSDos Professional to do this.

Trust me, I've spent the last two days trying to bring this F'ING laptop back online.

ERD Commander 2003 is a lifesaver.
