I just popped in a Retail Celeron 900 on an Asus Slocket, on an Asus P2B with version 1014 bios and it doesn't even boot up...nothing..not even a beep from the bios!!! the monitor that the computer is hooked up to didn't even awake from standby mode after powering on the computer. After powerup, the hdd light is just constantly on, and the power button at the front of the case does not power down the system when pushed...i have to push the switch on the back of the computer (the powersupply powerswitch) to power the system down. What could be causing this and what's preventing the system to boot? I know all the parts in the same computer is fully functional because i popped the original cpu back into the system (p2-350@392) and there's no problems.

I tried 1.8v@100fsb and 1.9v@100fsb..but the same thing results...absolutely nothing..:( does anyone know what the problem is?? or did i just get a dud cpu?

i think you need to flash the bios to support the celeron. thats what i had to do when i had a pentium iii and a asus motherboard. also is the asus slocket fcpga compatable? another thing to check is the jumpers on the slocket to make sure they are right.

What do you mean to flash the bios to support the celeron? Is there a special bios JUST for the celeron? I have the latest bios version (the 1014) for the P2B. I ran a P3-1000@133fsb before and it was flawless, so I can conclude that the board and the slocket are compatible.

The jumpers on the slocket only sets the voltage..which I set to 1.8v because that's the minimum the mobo requires.

ok sounds like bios is right for celeron. on some slockets there is alot more jumpers for ppga and fcpga and also front side bus sometimes.
voltage should be able to go lower than 1.8 i would think on the asus board useing the slocket to adjust voltage. its been a while since i have used a asus board
