My friend has a dell desktop and we recently tried upgrading his ram from 2x512 sticks to 2x1gb mushkin 667 mhz ram. His dell operator told him that the motherboard supports up to DDR2-800 even though his sticks were 533.
Well, when we installed the new chips, the computer is making a weird deep beeps. Well, that would be fine (we were thinking just RMA), but when we tried to install the old chips, the computer makes the same beeping noise. The computer will not boot and we cannot get any response from it. Just a dead black screen.
It is an inspiron (I will give include the model numbers when he gives them to me) if that is any help.
