PLEASE HELP...FIXMBR: will it cause data loss on a dual boot scenario?

I installed W2K first..THEN installed WinME,
I modified the boot.ini file to include WinME
When I try to boot in WinME it gives me a W2K error (boot.ini is correct)

Should I Boot from the W2K CD and use FIXMBR to correct this?

If so, am I risking data loss?

ANY help would be appreciated

Where did you install WinME?
What does the contents of your Boot.ini look like?
It could be that somehow you typo'ed your boot.ini without realizing it......

Run FIXMBR. It should fix your problem. You won't lose any data.

Post the contents of your boot.ini.

The entry for booting Windows Millennium is not an ARC path.

Your boot.ini should look similar to the following:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\ = "Microsoft Windows"

Note the last line is how WinME is loaded.
