Please help, dss80 software for win2000?

this software for dss80 speakers seems to work only in windows98. Microsoft support web site has a topic about this problem and basically offers no solution. Does anybody know of any software that will work with dss80 speakers in win2000 environment that yields better or same sound quality? thanks in advance.
 
the latest version of media player from microsoft has a 10 band eq and 'srs wow effects'. by tuning these controls, i was able to get equivalent sound. keep all the gains on the eq below the half-way line. otherwise, you will get distortion.
