Please help.. Can't even run my T-bird at its rated speed!

Hi guys, I have some problem.
I built a new T-bird 1.4Ghz AYHJA(not sure if the spelling is correct), Iwill KK266R mobo, Fop32-1 HSF, Two case fans, PC133 RAM, Voodoo3 2k vid card system for my Dad. Yes, Im a first time using a T-bird system.

The problem is: I can't even run it at its rated 1.4Ghz!! The Bios in the mobo says it only goes upto 132mhz FSB. The clock multiplier is at 10.5x (I donno if the multiplier is locked on this one or not). The Vcore was set at "auto". It won't run at 132mhz bus with 10.5 multiplier.. it won't even post. So, I ran at lower speeds by lowering the FSB. The speeds of 112x 10.5= 1176 worked no problem, 120x 10.5= 1260 ran no problem, 127x 10.5= 1333 ran no problem as well at the CPU temp of 43- 44C at idle.

Why can't I run it at 1.4Ghz??.. and why is the FSB option on this KK266R mobo only goes upto 132mhz FSB?????? The manual says it goes upto 166mhz FSB!. What is the problem? is it the voltage?.. I don't see the option for adjusting the AGP/PCI ratio divider, I/O voltage, etc.. The only thing I see are the options of Clock multiplier, FSB, and Vcore that's it. The mobo is very new because I just got it two days ago. Do I need a BIOS flash?? or Pencil trick on the processor?.. I don't know anything about the purpose of Pencil trick, soldering, etc on the AMD Athlon chips. Can you help me? what do I need to do?

there is a jumper on the kk266 that sets the FSB range - i beleive the 2 positions are 133+ and 100-133. look in the manual. should be a simple adjustment, assuming my memory on this is correct.

Set the FSB jumper in ur mobo from 100 to 133 Mhz (100 is the default). Look thru the manual for the jumper location.

U should be able to run 133 Mhz now.

Oops.. sorry I didn't fully read the manual. With you guys' help, I found the jumper switch and happily running at 1502mhz for now! haha. Thank you 2minkey and wind. 🙂

no. Haha~~ as a matter of fact, it's been running at that speed AND stable enough to play all games and 2D apps for several months and still going well. The load temp of 41C hahaha.. Idle temp: 29C actually it's long story about the cooling on this Pentium system. If you really ancious to know the detail, I will post the link to the pic of this cooling setup and explanations. 🙂
