Hi all,

Here are a couple of things I can't figure out and would greatly appreciate some help on.

1. My computer freezes up occasionally for a few seconds. It will freeze up totally (mouse won't move, if music is playing it will play one sound like a skipping record, etc.). When it first did this I thought it would require a reboot. But it doesn't, it just unfreezes and acts normal after like 3 or so seconds. Very weird problem. I just reformatted and reinstalled everything as well, so everything is fresh.

2. My new cable internet connection doesn't work. I have ATT broadband. I installed it, and it worked perfectly for a couple of days. But I needed to reformatt to fix some problems. Now, since the reformatt, whenever I restart my computer it works fine for about 5 mintues then doesn't work at all. Pages won't load. I can't ping anyone and no one can ping me (though they could moments before). To get back on the internet, I need to reboot the computer. ANOTHER weird problem. Could this be on ATTBroadbands end though, and not my fault?

My system:

1.33ghz T-bird
MSI K7 Master mobo
512mb PC2100 DDR RAM
Leadtek GeForce 3 w/Nvidia reference drivers
Hercules Game theatre XP
WIndows XP

I managed to download most updates besides SP1 for XP (this required a lot of reboots). SP1 is too large to download in the time alloted though.

IF anyone can help I would be GREATLY appreciative.

Thanks :)

I can offer a bit of advice on SP1 for XP. Order the CD from MS - all it costs is shipping. Hope others jump in on your other problems.

Well I have AT&T but have never had that problem. Try turning off the Windows firewall and see what happens. I don't know much about it, but I would be willing to bet that if you wanted to run a software firewall, there's something better than the Windows one.
