Im having a problem with my puter that I have never had so Im posting it hoping that maybe someone has had this or seen a solution..

My computer will freeze for about 30 sec's here and there and stay that way about 20 sec's then its fine for a few min. and same thing over and over any idea's on what this might be?

My specs are:

Abit NF7-S v2.0
amd 1800+
512 MB ddr400
gf4 Abit Siluro 4200 128 MB
Windows XP home


any help would be appreciated it also did it twice while I was typing this just to give ya an idea..


 
Virus protection ? Sounds like a possible virus that sends out emails, etc.. Are you on broadband ? Spyware protection ?
 
try task manager and end all tasks, also type msconfig.exe in run, under start menu and disable everything except explorer.exe. if it still wont work try uninstalling all the useless programs.
