I live in Sydney Australia and i'm about to purchase a new pc, and from what i've found from looking into pc shops/sites we don't get any thermalright coolers out here, which pretty much sticks most aussies with thermaltake volcanos.. or no-name products not many people would touch with a 40ft pole :|

I have found some CoolerMaster coolers, but no Alpha, Akasa, Vantec, or Thermalright :\

What CoolerMaster cooler would be better than a Volcano 9? I found some here. I'm asking because soon i'll be buying one or the other heh.

The coolermaster HHC001 heatpipe for 65$ on that site is an excellent solution and worth the extra 10$ Austrailian IMO.

cause they are name brand and many places have them
most people don't care to read heatsink reviews so they just get the first thing they see
ohhh well

guess you can spot a non-overclocker by his volcano.....
hehe

Hi guys

I know this thread is against the Volcano's but here they are all I can get... the Alphas are over twice the price :(

I am planning on getting a 2100+ TBred B and I am wondering which cooler you guys would recomend: the Volcano 7+ or 9? Please no bashing or flaming, I realise you guys wouldn't get the Volcanos, but of those two which is better? I have heard better things about the 7+.

Your views?
Thanks

Their 80mm Smart Case fan 2 is actually very good quality IMO. I got it with the Coolmod; very nice combo for those with a case window. Even though I couldn't get the rheo to work and I didn't mess with the thermal speed control, I found the quality to be excellent as the noise to CFM ratio is better than some of the other fans I've used (Sunon, Panaflo, Delta, Coolermaster). Hook it up to a rheo and you've got control from ~22dBA to 50dBA and 27CFM to ~77CFM. I believe the fan is OEM Ever-something.

The volcano 7+ is a better choice. I am now the proud owner of an slk800, but the tt volcano 7+ is not a bad product at all. I somewhat do agree with everyone else the thermaltake sucks, but the volcano 7+ surprised me. I purchased it at frys just to try it out (frys has a pretty damn good return policy,) so I had nothing to lose. I kept it and it works pretty damn well. Copper base HS, three fan speeds to choose from (3000, 4500, 6000rpm I believe,) and not as HUGE as the rest of the tt products. Out of all the Thermaltake products right now, the only one I would recommend is the volcano 7+. People may not recommend it for overclocking, but the volcano 7+ did me well in the whole overclocking scenario. I am running an xp2100 tbredB @ 2.167 (166*13 = xp2700) and it did me fine reaching high temps of about 43-45 degrees full load. Give the volcano 7+ a chance for thermaltake, I'd say nothing else though.

That's the kind of post I was hoping to see and thanx for assisting a first time poster with his purchase as well :) It would seem that in some areas of the world it's perhaps the best value available and explains some of their popularity to me.

Thanks for the comments, esspecially YoungChowFun ;)

Out of interest how much do the Alphas or slk800 go for in you part of the world? I'm in Europe, and as I said the Volcanos are 2 and 3 times cheaper than the two biggest Alphas.. and that's just too much I'm affraid...

Great forum BTW, heaps of info and good community ;)

I think its just advertising of some form that is why some many newbies buy thermaltake. I bought an alpha for my system, but someone asks me to test their P4 chip out for them to see how high it would clock on my mobo and they were using a thermaltake cooler. The volcano 7 + I believe. That thing had the worse clipping mechanism I have dealt with since the corb.

Well I bought a Volcano 11 and it will be coming with my Xaser III. Why I bought it? Simple, AT did a review of the Xaser III and it pretty much owned. It comes with 7 NEWER MODEL fans and a fan controller, which is perfect for me cause Im too lazy to do all that stuff. Plus the fan controller is adjustable and visible even when the door is closed.

I got the Volcano 11 cause I figured it will work well with the case....its a totally new model and its made of all copper. Plus its got the whole auto cooling thing....again Im lazy.

I simply want to turn my puter on and go game.....I have no patience for anything.

When I get it all together I will post some results.

i've read that the V11 is a V7+ heatsink with the improvements of the V9
