Going to be upgrade time soon. I'm trying to return my dead Palit GF4Ti4200 under warranty to the manufacturer; it'll be Christmas before I get a replacement back, if I get one at all, so I'm not counting on it. Purchase time.

Probably going NVidia again b/c ATI still can't seem to get drivers right even though for the money, their card is a better deal in most cases. Not a flame, just factual from what I read.

ANYWAY, I remember the GF line was structured from least to best performing, ala 4200-->4400-->4600.

Is the FX line the same way AFA the numbers go? I.E. 5600-->5800-->5900?

Thanks.

there are 2 5600 ultras, the new and the old. the old i think is slightly behind the 9500, the new is slightly ahead. the 5800 line is the original nv30 line. consisting of the ultra (higher clocked) and the lower clocked non ultra, only differance is clockspeeds. with the new drivers they should match the 9700/9800 or fall slightly between the two. the 5900 is nv35, the ultra version outperforms 9800 pro 256 DDRII version by a good margin. the non ultra is just underclocked versions of the ultra.

Pretty much. Though we no idea on the specs of the 5900 Non-Ultra, or the "5900 Value". So we don't know how it compares with the 5800. But as of now..

5900 Ultra > 5800 Ultra > 5800 > 5600 Ultra > 5600 > 5200 Ultra > 5200

Somewhere along the line, the 5900 Non-Ultra SHOULD be between the 5900 Ultra and the 5800 Ultra, not sure about the 5900 Value.

FYI you won`t see the FX5900 retail(NV35) until probably late June, the Value version of the FX 5900 is not hitting retail until July from what I`ve read over at nV News, yep the specs etc are still not known on the value model at this time except for price($299).

I was joking about that with my friend two days ago. They should just called it a 5800 Ultra Ultra or something, lol ;)
