Lower cost of manufacturing due to fewer platters/heads? Higher original MSRP?

Check out the reviews on Amazon first as there are more posted there. I ordered two of the first drive you have listed (3TB with three 1TB platters) and both drives failed within a few days of use, started with the loud clicking and then would not show up in the BIOS. Since then I've tried the 2TB drives from Western Digital and Hitachi and both of those haven't had any issues.

Thinking about it, my take is that since the 3T is new and has 5 reviews, very few people wants to take the plunge and they rater go for the older model with more positive reviews (I know I applied that logic with my SSD purchase:biggrin:).
It may also mean that most people haven't realized yet that they need 3T now

Those Egg stars are not real objective reviews.
They should be used last in a purchase decision.
