All I hear about this election is people want change, change, change. Yet...

Current Obama job approval rating 58%
http://www.businessinsider.com/obama-approval-rating-trump-hillary-clinton-polls-2016-9

Current approval rating for Congress (in case you didn't know both houses run by Republicans) 12.5%
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/congressional_job_approval-903.html

So if people don't want a 3rd Obama term why do so many approve of the job he is doing? Don't give me that he's on his way out stuff, Bush was in the 20s on his way out. Why do so many dislike the job Republicans in Congress are doing?

Are people really making a case for Trump and Republicans this fall??

It's not that he's amazing, he actually seems kind of meh. But stacked up against Hillary or Trump he suddenly appears preferable in comparison.

State and Local government tends to have a greater impact on most peoples lives than Federal anyway, but a lot of people seem to not realize that.

The whole system in general has gotten so bloated it is pathetic though, no matter which party as been in charge.
I don't know why, but Democrats are just too lazy to vote in midterms.

People have always wanted change in congress, but it is always the others, not "their guy." It's the whole idea that their congressman is great, but that guy from Texas is a real asshole.

They are! And Hilary's in a statistical tie with him! How embarrassing for you!

To be fair, the guy from Texas is a real asshole. I've met most of them, and they are pretty much all assholes. It seems to be our specialty.

"Harvard crushes" nothing.

No doubt the obama greatly fueled this fire:

The U.S. political system was once the envy of many nations. Over the last two decades, however, it has become our greatest liability. Americans no longer trust their political leaders, and political polarization has increased dramatically. Americans are increasingly frustrated with the U.S. political system. Independents now account for 42% of Americans, a greater percentage than that of either major party.

The economy limps along anemically — the weakest recovery from a recession in history. His bubble is fortified so you aren't going to reach him let alone get a response from him. He's become just like a lot of other righty nutters, he simply dumps and runs.

You mean Obama had an economy that was a bigger disaster then the last Republican economy that lost 800,000 jobs/month?!!

I find that just a little hard to believe

They always beat this drum. It's always wrong but a segment of the population votes based on this idea so they keep going.

I honestly think our public schools are shit on purpose. Much easier to control a stupid population.

Sessions ought to know about poverty. His state is the 4th poorest & has been run by Repubs for decades. His own voting record & that of his state delegation in general has been dismal. They refuse to enact medicaid expansion & tax the poor more than the rich-

Easy answer. People generally and genuinely like Obama, but not everyone is benefitting from the 21st century economy, and the world he is passing along is as scary if not more so than the one he inherited.

He didn't fix it, nor could he. A President is not that powerful, especially without Congress.
I mean, even if he had a solution... it would not be possible to apply one.

Hillary to extend it? Not "Hillary and Trump to extend it"? How many people here think Trump is going to turn things around in a positive way?

Agreed, but initally he had a mandate and Congress, but lost both at the midterms because he perhaps underestimated the tenacity of his opponents. I think history will judge Obama as a strong President but also a missed opportunity.

He didn't "miss the opportunity," he just instead decided to use the opportunity he had to spend his political capital on Obamacare and "stimulus" like 99 weeks of unemployment.

Any candidate that goes from a historic and decisive victory to historic and decisive midterm losses is a missed opportunity
