Any candidate that goes from a historic and decisive victory to historic and decisive midterm losses is a missed opportunity
Missing historic opportunity would be not pushing your legislative agenda when you have political capital and a majority in Congress.

He did. The 2010 election was a direct repudiation of his legislative agenda, Obamacare being the key factor.

During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years.

"You better believe we're going to mix it up with somebody at some point during my administration," said Bush, who plans a 250 percent boost in military spending. "Unlike my predecessor, I am fully committed to putting soldiers in battle situations. Otherwise, what is the point of even having a military?"

Damn I should have gotten a job writing for the Onion.

We need to tax old money at a different (higher) rate than new money.
WE are dying for some capital investment in infrastructure. Not all but most problems would be solved if Congress began projects that benefit all instead of few.
Eisenhower was a GOP and build the Freeway system and the resulting highways opened up the country like nothing since the railroad. (another Federal project)
If you want to pick nits there will always be thieves and scoundrels. We don't stop building, we prosecute the thieves.
Welfare cheats? You don't kill welfare you weed out the offenders.
More Cops (more jobs)
More Construction (more jobs)
Better roads (more jobs)
Better schools (more jobs)
More Jobs More taxpayers.
We only get a slice of accumulated wealth after it increases. Bad for society.

Death panels!

And Barney Frank caused the collapse of the housing bubble, obviously.
