okay, I got my only WoW character up to 60 last night so i'm pretty happy about that but i've never really gotten any input from other WoW rogue vets. since i stay as far away as possible from the official WoW forums, thought i'd post here since so many ppl here seem to play it.
first, a little background info. i do zero pvp. only did enough early on to get a discount on mount. also, my gear is a little behind b/c i started playing the game in dec. with 3 real-life friends of mine so we 4-manned everything up thru uldaman with a shammy as our only healer! as a result, we were doing instances at later levels than most. whereas if we'd been in a guild or something, we probably woulda been doing ST or maybe even BRD at that point. LOL still haven't finished BRD yet, and haven't touched anything beyond. :\ workin on it!
here's how i'm using my talent points:
ASSASSINATION
Malice: 5/5
Improved Slice and Dice: 3/3
Assassination Total: 8
COMBAT
Improved Sinister Strike: 2/2
Lightning Reflexes: 5/5
Improved Backstab: 1/3
Precision: 5/5
Improved Evasion: 2/2
Dual Wield Specialization: 5/5
Blade Flurry: 1/1
Combat Total: 21
SUBTLETY
Master of Deception: 5/5
Elusiveness: 5/5
Opportunity: 5/5
Initiative: 4/5
Ghostly Strike: 1/1
Preparation: 1/1
Subtlety Total: 21
haven't spent my last talent point yet. any ideas where it'd be most effective for high level instances/raids?
i've set it up this way to maximize damage per swing while at the same time, not stealing aggro from the MT (hit > crit). i use blade flurry with slice and dice to maximum effect for attacking two targets at once and evasion with ghostly strike for defensive purposes. and i love having prep to reset cooldowns for all the above. also, this build allows for me to reach adrenaline rush once lvl caps are moved to 70. am i missing out on anything important?
my main concern regards weapons. a rogue wants a slow main hand weapon with high damage and as fast a weapon as possible in off-hand, right? i've been using the widowmaker since lvl42 cuz i haven't found a comparable dagger with good damage AND agility & stam/str. my agility is 363, i think. i haven't gotten the barman shanker yet but i'm leary of a dagger that has a stupid proc on it rather than agility & stam/str. guess that's why i've been using the same dagger for 18 levels! :\ off-hand, i have a green dimensional blade of the monkey (+7 agil, +7 stam) with a speed of 1.6 for applying poison.
i do have a firebreather (from sunken temple) to switch to in main hand for face-to-face sinister strikes but it's kinduva pain to do so in combat. backstabbing with a dagger is always preferable to sinister strike-spamming with a sword, right?
thanks in advance for your analysis!
