After hooking up my laptop to the extra input on my LCD monitor, I've found that ignoring a thread is twice as easy on a dual monitor setup as it is on a single monitor. Just wanted to let you all know...

Yes!! I love having dual monitors--I could never go back to having a single monitor again. I love how I can keep something on the second monitor (like threads or stats), and play GW on the other monitor. So wonderful.

My eldest daughter (16 yrs) is having her dance-performances (in front of an audience of more than 400 spectators/performace) this weekend: 3 performances saturday and 3 sunday. All six perfomances are sold out.
I'll be there for at least two of them. It is not the first time, but the first time in front of such large group of people.
OK, she is not the only one dancing, but she is one of the three leading dancers (among a total of approx. 100 other dancers)

I am a very, very proud father ...

We are moving across town--upgrading households if you will. Much better place, more space, and I get my own room (I'm also paying 2/3 the rent instead of 1/3 and us having another roommate). And our machines will be the last thing to leave the house, and the first thing to be plugged in at the new one, so the crunching will be interrupted by only an hour or so. And now that I get my own room, I might be able to add some machines, depending upon the electric load at the new place. I really want to get my rack up and running again.

EDIT: Oh yea, plus I should be getting my old desk back, so Mercurial Chocobo (laptop) will have a place to perch and crunch.

I wonder if there is a way to get my dual Xeon machine running outside. Makes too much heat to run inside.

I have a dual Athlon - makes also a lot of heat. I have put an 22 cm diameter air duct just behind the comp, with a bathroom fan some 20 cm in the duct, and then pulled the duct to an opening in the window (I let a guy with a glass cutter do the correct sized hole...). Works like a charm. In winter, I just switch the fan off and the heat is distributed in the room ...

Nice... I'm working on plans for doing a venting system for my future file server / cruncher. That project is going to be fun.

I'm looking at prices on newegg, and I can get a AM2 dual core proc, mobo, and RAM for $140. That's about 3 months of electricity for running the dual Xeon here. Damn. This really sucks. I have two Xeon 2.66 CPUs, one nice server mobo, and 2gb of RAM for it, but I can't really do anything with it.

I am so envious of you guys with cruch farms and crack racks. I used to have a four machine rack plus another two towers, but had to part it out and make PCs for family and friends. (Can't say I miss the high electric bill!!!) This was back in the Seti Classic days.

I now have four machines (and two aging laptops) here at home, 2 on DPAD.

But now I can ignore this thread.

Hey, I'm doing the same thing Saturday; E4300, GA-965P-S3, OCZ 2x1GB, Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro are the new parts. My bro-in-laws's AMD 1700+ system died so I'm building him a new system based on my existing FX-55 as an excuse to get the Core 2 for myself
