Your ex's friend sounds like one of those miserable people that wants to make everyone else miserable. If your ex won't listen to reason, there's not much you can do, except hope that she'll eventually believe you. It'll probably be too late by then though. If she can't trust you, then you should probably just move on. There are other women out there.

I agree with Amanda, if she won't press her friend for details and take her friend's comments in light of previous events, she doesn't trust you anyway, and she's not worth it.

Hopefully, when your g/f cools down, she might listen to reason. Until then, don't make a beg or anything. She just wants to make a fuss right now. If she takes this friend's word over yours, you don't need the hassle.

If the relationship was already to the point that you had to actually work at treating each other "respectfully and as human beings"... then you are probably beating a dead horse anyway. A relationship should be so much more then to just "treat each other respectfully and as human beings", ya know.

Best to move on and find a good relationship. Leave your soon to be ex and the friend to each other.

If your ex gf is that much of a fool then it sounds like you're doing well to not even have the chance with her now.

Not much I can really add here other than to agree with everyone. Sounds like your relationship is over, and better off that way.

Maybe confront the "friend" without your ex around. Ask why she told her you cheated on her, when you did nothing of the sort. Grill her about where she got the info, etc. Try to get her to admit she lied about it. Tape record the whole thing with a microcassette recorder in your pocket. If she incriminates herself, play the tape for your ex. Bam, her credibility is in the toilet, and you're on the road to recovery with the ex. :D

Good luck!

The problem is that she listens to this girl, when she shouldn't. That is all - she is the most amazing person I have ever known.

Because of the situation this 'friend' has wormed her way back into the equation and caused this irrepairable damage, she has managed to warp her perception of things because of the vulnerable state she is already in. I wish she would see this.

I am requesting that this post be closed/locked now. I hope she realizes the truth in this.
