Please Critique my new Build

I'm building myself a new system. It's going to be used for mostly gaming. I'll be useing some parts from my current system aswell. Please let me know if anything isn't compatable or if I made any bad decisions on components. Thank you.

The new pieces:
Case and power supply
Motherboard
Video card
Processor
Mouse
CPU Cooler

The old pieces I will be useing aswell:
Seagate SATA HDD 120Gb
1Gb (2x512) Mushkin Level one PC3500
Sony DVD-ROM and CD-RW

I still need help picking an LCD Display. Try to keep it as close to $300 as possible. Thanks again.

Thats an overpriced motherboard. Drop down to the DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra, or the Asus regular SLI board. Upgrade to 2GB of ram, and get a beefer video card if possible. Also if your going to OC, get a 3800+ its a waste getting a 4200+ since it has the same amount of cache.

Why such an expensive MB, you'd do just as well with the an NF4 Epox or DFI board? Also for the CPU cooler I suggest the sythe ninja, with a nice good fan depending on whether you'll be overclocking or not.

If you plan on ocing than do like the others have suggested and get the DFI Ultra-D and I'd also go for the Opteron 165 and use the money you saved on the proc to get a nicer video card. Monarch has a combo deal right now for the Opteron 165 and DFI board for ~$400 and it comes with HL2.

The 7800GT is a good card but, again, if you plan on ocing than the X1800XL is a better card.

First off, Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Between these two processors, which is better? I don't have a problem with OC'ing, but I probably won't do it right away. I might wait a few months, when I need to catch up to next best thing.

Opteron 165
or
X2 3800+

As for the motherboard, I'm stumped. I plan on running only one video card, not two. Which ASUS board or DFI board do I want? There's alot of choices and I'm not sure which I need.

Which DFI?
or
Which ASUS?

And lastly, will this CPU cooler with no fan, keep either of those processors at a reasonable temp? I'm willing to run a fan, but if the cooler can keep the CPU at 40C or less without a fan, I like the sound of that.

NINJA BABY!

I'll go with AMD X2 3800+ (cheaper and higher frequency than that opty) and ASUS A8N-E Motherboard or DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D.

get a 4400+... it is a 4800+ - 200mhz .

and get the zalman for goodness sakes! anything w\o a fan will get way too hott.

Here is a good DFI non-SLI board that would do you well for overclocking.

IMO it would be a waist for you to get an opteron because if you dont really know what your doing then your just waisting all that potential.

Did I ever say anything about getting a 4800+? That was never in the equation.
