Total Price of computer $1,069.01 all components shipped

Hey guys, I was wonderin do you think that the sapphire radeon is worth putting in the comp because it is so much cheaper than an ATI one shipped or am I wasting my time and money with the sapphire and should just fork up the extra couple of bucks for the ATI.

I'm really just not sure what video card to get and if anybody has some recommendations on this computer, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.

Suggestions:

1) notice that's the R9800 Pro with the cut-rate 128-bit memory bus, not full 256-bit memory bus

2) buy a high-quality power supply if you're getting a cheap case/PSU combo. Antec TruePower, Enermax, Fortron, not something that the case maker threw into the case to make it sell 😉

3) personally, I would go with a PATA drive instead of SATA, but I'm just crazy like that 😛 Crazier, actually, 'cause I'd use SCSI 😀 but that doesn't fit most peoples' needs very well.

Hope that helps 🙂

Ok I decided to get a ATI Radeon x800 Pro 256mb.

Also I want to get the Antec Sonata case with a 380 Watt PS (comes with it).

Is 380 Watt enough power for my setup since I'm adding the x800 Pro?

Thanks!

yes. quality over quantity. Antec makes excellent PSU's.

Sounds like a good choice, the Antecs are good-quality units 🙂

One more change...

Thinking about waiting a while to get the x800. I might just go with a Powercooler 9600 Pro 128mb (for now). What do you think about it? Good card?

price for 9600 + price for X800 later = price of X800 now

I'd just get it now if you are planning to upgrade soon

Ok, two more questions:

1. The memory.. i know the corsair I selected is good. But is there a more affordable memory you would recommend that will give SIMILAR performance? If it's only $10 or $20 less I will keep the corsair. But if there is a way to save a lot of money with still good RAM please tell me what to get. I do not overclock.
2. The motherboard.. I selected MSI Neo Platinum. Is there a non-platinum version that is cheaper? What's the difference? Trying to save money here if possible too.

dude, give ppl some time.

You could get some Kingston HyperX, or OCZ platinum, they all are goooood memory, unsure on prices though.

MIKE

I looked them up and it seems the Neo Platinum is the nForce 3 chipset. I'll probably stick with it.

As for the $254 Corsair 1gb memory, it seems there isn't much cheaper (aside from a few corsair chips that I dont know the difference with)
