Hello Folks

Please check this gaming build. Budget trying to be $1000 or less. I have a monitor and keyboard from another computer, so those are not needed.

CPU: i5-6500
HDD: WD Black 2TB
Optical Drive: NONE
Motherboard: ASUS H170 ProGamer
RAM: Corsair DDR-2133 X 2 = 16GB
Case: Antec Nine Hundre Mid-Tower
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1060
Wi-Fi/Internet Connection: via USB Wi-Fi device
OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
Cooling Fan: Cryorig H7
SDD: Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB

Please let me know if you see any red-flags. We will NOT be overclocking this, also 90% of the time will be Minecraft and Making YouTube videos. SOME Grand Theft Auto, etc. Also school homework, etc.

Ordering mostly from New Egg. Graphics card being ordered from company website since many retailers have it out of stock.

Thank You !

:)

A few thoughts:

-If you're not overclocking, you don't really need that CPU cooler. I know some people buy after-market ones because they find the stock Intel one noisy at high RPM's, but the case you picked out is not the quietest case out there anyways with it's 3 x 120mm front/rear fans, and a 200mm top fan. It's just a lot of fans for a stock i5-6500 and GTX 1060 (not the most demanding items for sure).

-Since the price is about the same, I would buy DDR4 3000. Just make sure it appears on Asus's QVL list or go directly to the memory manufacturer's website and use their 'memory finder' tool.

I'd get a Fractal Design case instead. Ditch the CPU cooler. Otherwise looks like a strong build. I have the same board. It has been great for me.

I didn't change out your CPU since that was just fine. However I swapped out the Asus for a lower priced but equivalent performing motherboard from ASRock. I also swapped the GPU as the RX480 is better bang for your buck than a GTX1060. I also swapped out the SSD as the Sandisk performs just as well and saves a good bit of cash. I also swapped out the WD Black as you're way overspending for a mechanical drive since your programs and OS will reside on the SSD. Lastly I went with a more modern case that has a much better airflow design and better fans that come with it for that matter. The Antec 900 was a nice case when it came out but that was on the order of 10 years ago and that's absolutely ancient in the PC realm.
