Is it too late to cancel? ;)

Plus: Sony, 80GB, DVD burner
Minus: Heavy, integrated video with shared memory, P4 (hot and hard on battery life)

Maybe its just bad luck but everytime ive used a system with home installed wether its a freinds comp or one of mine it always seems to conflict with certain programs. Mainly games....

I wouldn't like Shared Vid memory. I would also wrather have a CF SD MMC slot than a Mem stick.

There is no difference except for some network properties that would have no issue with Games. Is it possible that the Home version is not using SP1, or not updated with the latest drivers? Both were released with the same drivers so that really doesn't make sense.

I wouldn't pay that much for that system. The weight plus the integrated video and low battery life really kill it. For that price, you could get a Dothan w/ radeon 9700 that gives you over 4 hours battery life. I know you say it'll usually be plugged in, but if that's the case, why not get a faster machine anyway and be future proof? You could get a good A64 or Dothan machine for less than that price. I guess it's OK, if you only want to buy Sony, but i've always known people to buy Sony for being light and having extra features. That machine seems a bit stock (lowest res wide lcd, ddr266 memory, P4 3.06) I would get the refurb Acer Ferrari if you don't mind refurb and you want your machine to be more future proof, or a good, loaded HP/COMPAQ A64 or Dothan machine for the same price.....

maybe its that XP home always comes preloaded on cheap computers with other bloatware that messes up the system. a clean XP home system shouldn't be any difference gaming wise than xp pro

It's not bad... but I personally would have went for an IBM T-42 or other similar T series computer over it. Are you a student or do you know one? You can get a decent discount through IBM/EDU that would put a decent T-42 in your hands for that price!
