Hi,

Dumb question but I really don't know and don't have the time to research it.

If my CPU hypothetically (and it will after I increase FSB with motherboard) has a FSB of 300MHz which DDR2 do I buy 667, 800 ? I just need 2x1GB sticks. I don't want to spend any more than is necessary.

Thanks,

B

I forgot the rules on all that stuff, I think most of the time there is a range in speed that is needed and it should be supplied in the manual of the Motherboard.. you can also look up the vendor of the PC or Motherboard on the Crucial and Kingston sites to see what is recommended. They usually have pretty good deals on those sites that are cheaper then buying from 3rd parties

300x2=600. That said you can probably buy any DDR2. 533-1066, just buy whats cheapest. 533 will most likely overclock to 600 but I can't guarantee that so get 667 at least though the price difference between 667 and 800 is not much, wouldnt surprise me if 667 is more expensive in some cases. Also for all this to work out as stated, you need to put your FSB : RAM at 1:1.
