Just came across it - you guys are so fast to reply that I must have missed it!

Great forum ;-)

BTW - just for knowledge purposes, why is the XClio considered better than the Aspire and what iis bad about Aspire PSUs in general?

i'm thinking, you can save money by going for 3200+ venice instead 3500+.

3200+ venice is potential in overclocking.

Guys, I found a mouse thats a little pricey but I think it's worth it considering I am under budget.

The Razor Diamondback Plasma -> got great reviews, especially for gaming and it has that blue light I was talking about. It will surely look cool with my keyboard and tower at night :)

Any extra input is greatly appreciated as I want to make this order very soon!

Good points waffles - you were right on all of them.

Above all else though, I prefer the Razer's shape and size over the mx518.

Speakers... bigger speakers :p

For the sake of his dorm roommate/s, hopefully he'll opt for smaller speakers and bigger headphones. ;)

Oh, the speakers there are the minimum. I am pretty sure who my roomie is going to be, and if he doesn't have any tinnitus problems, then i'll get bigger ones:)

That's why you get an SPL meter to make sure you're not playing too loudly (in addition to calibration). Better speakers sound better when not as loud also. :D

You're no fun.

LOL...Hey, I?m just looking out for the other guy, especially since it might be me. I don?t know where this guy goes to college, and since my last roommate was into some annoyingly horrible & weird 1980?s punk band called the ?Dead Kennedys?, I figured I?d cover all the bases. :p

Then his roommates can come here and complain and we can tell them to get closed headphones. Problem solved :p

YoYo, can you recommend better speakers for me? Thanks.

I'm just kidding around man, if you don't want to spend anymore on speakers, that's perfectly fine.

If you don't listen to speakers a whole lot or don't plan on using your computer all that much, I'd say don't bother.

I'm of the opinion though that a quality set of speakers is a much better investment than most computer components. In 2 years, most of your system is going to be pretty out of date, but your set of speakers should be chugging along just fine.

My first set of decent speakers were Logitech z-560s and I had them for 3 years. I paid $140 for them and sold them for $100 after 3 years of use.
Spending $350 on a set of speakers is going to hold its value a lot better than a $350 videocard.

Over the last year I've kind of gone nuts on my audio equipment, but this is something I really enjoy.

You pretty much get what you pay for (with a few exceptions). I think most people you talk to would think you're insane for spending more than $100 on a set of computer speakers, so I know it's not for everyone. I've spend 30 times that and I don't regret it.

If you give me a budget I can make some suggestions (as I'm sure a bunch of other people would be willing to do too).

I know I've gone overboard on my own stuff, but seeing a $1400 computer config and a $70 speaker set kind of frustrates me. I mean going from $150 CPU to a $250 CPU is a jump in performance, but if you spend that $100 towards your speaker budget, you would surely notice a difference. I think a great display and a great sound system can really make a system. A couple years from now, the inside of your computer isn't going to be so cool, but a nice display and speakers should last you a long time.

Ok, I'm done :p
