PLC programming

how does it differ from other programming. I thought I wa sgonna do it in my new job, but they hired some other dude to do it (they want me to concentrate on hardware). I really do not care, but it would have been cool to learn somethign new.

It's usually something called Ladder Logic. Sure you can find a lot online about it. I've seen it and watched a little debugging of it, and that's about it.

I know that, but what does the actual programming entail (or even look like)? All I see are some diagrams. that cannot be the actual programming of it.

Did you read the articles? 🙂. They discuss how ladder logic is used to simulate the operational circuits that control the machines. Remember, PLCs were developed to replaced hard-coded relay-based logic that used to run equipment, so there is a natural correspondence between the way it works, and the way that those circuits were designed.
