This thread got locked earlier, which is ridiculous. "No posting about PS2." WHAT?

I know the "rule" stemmed from posts directing people to shady sites that were ripping people off. But the solution ISN'T to ban ANY link to a PS2 (currently one of the most hard to find pieces of electronics on the planet.) That's like in third grade when one kid got out of line and everyone had to miss recess.

I think we can all agree that Sony is a reputable dealer of it's own playstation units. And since this is one of the ONLY places you can actually buy a playstaion 2 now, I'd say this is a very relevant posts.

But, at a place where you can't even type e*bay (what the hell is that all about anyway???), I doubt this thread will last long.

The mods have decided that we aren't mature enough to decide for ourselves which posts are relevant to us, so they conveniently decide for us. Thanks!

Personally, I don't think PS2s are worth the money right now. Amazon's bundle seems a bit extreme for a gaming system to be paying $599.

Note by the way that if you don't want next-day shipping, it's only like $8 (I can't figure out exactly how much, since they don't list the weight of the PS2... Boulder, what was it?)

First of all, Ollie, I don't have time to read through every post to check if someone has posted this already. I didn't see it posted, so I thought I'd do people a favor. I'm guessing I'm not the only one out there that wants a PSX2 but not willing to pay more than MSRP for it. So if I have repeated someone else, I apologize. It's not like I'm getting commission from this.

And Montyburns, I'm not sure of the weight. But I do believe you would cut ~$10-$20 off the price if one was to choose STANDARD shipping.

Actually, I was tempted to buy a 2nd one and sell for profit. But my conscience said otherwise.

i don't think they will drop their price from 299 to 99(like a playstion one) within half year,even one year...299 is what you need to pay for a ps2 in the market right now...even couple months later.. (it's not just a game console, it's also a DVD player, and cd player<--who care?)

I agree with Ranger X that the PS2 is not worth the $299. There are a number of things that will drive the price down:

1) People are upset at Sony for creating this supply shortage
2) The supply shortage is going to work against Sony because by the time it is corrected the release of other competing systems will be imminent
3) Right now there is no competition (ie. the market will bear a higher price)
4) Nintendo's GameCube
5) Microsoft's Xbox (or something like that)

Just my 2 cents.
